Family Implemented TEACCH for Toddlers (FITT) is collaborative parent education and support model designed to help families better understand and engage with their toddler with autism spectrum disorder. Based on and adapted from the TEACCH model, FITT uses Structured TEACCHing strategies to facilitate toddler’s receptive and expressive communication, social communication, and play skills.

Research is currently underway to examine the impacts of FITT on toddler outcomes, including developmental and adaptive skills, as well as the impact on family outcomes, such as parent stress and well-being. In addition we are collaborating with rural community-based early intervention providers in North Carolina to develop a training and coaching model to support the use of FITT strategies with families and toddler across the state.
